Margaret Alter
Margaret Alter has been weaving baskets for the past twelve years, following her retirement as a school teacher and her relocation to Bella Vista, Arkansas. During this time she has studied the art of basket weaving with local teachers including Martha Lue Featherston, Debbie Johnson Hurd and Ruth Miller as well as other instructors in basket weaving seminars.
Her baskets have received much recognition including a Best of Show award in Creative Crafts and the Best Basket Award at Benton County Fair in 2007.
In addition to creating traditional baskets and decorative baskets, she takes great joy in creating one of a kind baskets like tapestry baskets and antler baskets. Her personal mantra is “So many baskets, so little time”.
